Data only. Our eSIMs don't include a phone number, so you can't make regular calls or send SMS. Apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime and Messenger work fine over data.
Check your phone. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Check the full list of compatible devices here.
Full speed or unlimited. Data bundles run at full speed the whole time. Unlimited bundles give you 1GB (2GB on Max) at full speed every 24 hours, then keep you online at a slower speed. Your 24 hours starts when you first use the bundle and resets each day.
Buy now, use later. You have up to 12 months to activate a bundle after you buy it, so you can sort your data well before your trip.

Your usual SIM handles calls and texts. We handle the data. No roaming bills.
Message us any time, from anywhere. Real people who'll get you back online.
Data kicks in when you arrive. No airport SIM queues, no Wi-Fi hunting.
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of swapping a plastic card, you install your Pocket Roam plan by scanning a QR code. It sits alongside your regular SIM and gives you mobile data in your destination at local rates.
Installing your Pocket Roam eSIM bundle is a piece of cake. Just follow these quick steps:
Check your email: After you buy, we'll email you a link to activate your bundle.
No email? No worries. Go to data.pocketroam.com and sign in with the email you used at checkout.
Scan the QR code. Once your bundle is active, you'll get a QR code. Scan it with your phone to install the eSIM.
Turn on data roaming. In your phone settings, turn on data roaming for the Pocket Roam eSIM.
If you hit a snag along the way, don’t stress. Just reach out to our friendly support team and we will get you sorted.
Most recent phones support eSIM, including iPhone XR/XS and newer, Google Pixel 3a and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked. Some models sold in certain countries (for example mainland China and Hong Kong) don't support eSIM. See the full list of compatible devices →
Install your eSIM before you leave while you're on Wi-Fi. Your plan's validity starts when you first connect to the local network in your destination, so installing early won't use up your days.
Yes, as long as your phone supports dual SIM (most eSIM phones do). Keep your usual number for calls and texts, turn off data roaming on that SIM, and use Pocket Roam for data. You stay reachable without paying roaming charges.
Not regular ones. Pocket Roam eSIMs are data-only. WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger and other apps that use data work as normal.
Yes. You can share your data with a laptop, tablet or a mate's phone at no extra cost. Keep an eye on your usage, because hotspotting uses data faster than you'd expect.
Yes. Your eSIM stays on your phone after a bundle runs out, so you can add a new bundle for the same destination without installing anything again. Top up any time at data.pocketroam.com.
Not on our data bundles (like 10GB for 30 days). They run at full speed the whole time, depending on local coverage. Unlimited bundles give you a daily amount of full-speed data, then keep you online at a slower speed until your allowance resets 24 hours after you first used it.
They all give you unlimited data. The difference is how much full-speed data you get each day and how fast things run after that.
| Full-speed data every 24 hours | Speed after that | Good for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1GB | 512kbps | Messaging, email, maps |
| Boost | 1GB | 1.25Mbps | Adds social media and music |
| Max | 2GB | 2Mbps | Adds video calls and streaming |
Full speed means 5G where it's available. Your 24 hours starts from when you first use the bundle and resets every day until the bundle ends.
